Famous weapons

Post by Hermes Serpent » Mon Aug 04, 2014 8:24 pm

Since reading the rules for creating famous weapons I been thinking about those weapons in the hands of the enemy. Now some of them, i.e. Bane weapons, are unlikely to appear in their inventory but I was doing some checking for a plot line I'm working on for one of my games and noticed mention of a sword supplied to a Adversary that was made by Black Numenoreans.

I'm thinking that it's not only the vanilla Numenoreans that made fine weaponry but their corrupted cousins are likely to as well. So what Enchanted Qualities do you think might be applied to those weapons?

It's too bad the term "Grievous" is taken, but how about an effect that causes particularly nasty Wounds, requiring a higher-than-normal Healing TN? And/or prevents all Endurance recovery while Wounded?

There is the "Scimitar of Azog" on p. 113 (?) of HotW.

That thing is sufficiently scary the one guy wielding a sword in our group already has an elaborate plan for how to disarm the wielder if we ever run afoul of him.

Well, I say "elaborate." It's basically just "maximize my Called Shot."

I have a cunning and devious plan to deal with any orc using the Scimitar of Azog. When you see him, put a an arrow between his eyes. ;)
