Allowing Players to see Magical Treasures Index?
Allowing Players to see Magical Treasures Index?
So, should players be allowed to see the Magical Treasures Index for the items they've already found, or should it be eyes only for the Loremaster? I couldn't find anything in Rivendell to say one way or the other, though it seems to imply slightly that it's for Loremaster eyes only.

Presumably the LM is not going to reveal the extent of the various Qualities of a famous Weapon or Armour item if the owner hasn't found out about all it's properties. The player will know if it's a Precious Object (0 tengwars), a Wondrous Artefact or famous Armour or Weapon (1+ tengwars) etc., if they see the die roll and I presume they will as they are making it.
There's no reason not to show the player if you intent is to tease them about the effects that they cannot yet use of course.

Since spending a fellowship phase consulting with a lore-master reveals only a single quality, it's obvious this information should be kept secret until discovered.

Yes it should be a secret, but I also think that the initial roll should be a secret.
My players will be reluctant to pay a lot of XPs for an item acquired with an EoS, knowing that it will be cursed...
I'm not even sure that they will gamble with their, already nice cultural rewards to unlock unknown abilities of new and possibly cursed magic items... But we'll see.

... Best to go with it being for Loremaster eyes only. Even if players are 'behaved' enough to separate player and character knowledge it's still nice to be surprised as the former. I personally wouldn't want a Loremaster showing me such information as it would ruin the gradual discovery.
