Available in PDF now.

The Heart of the Wild is a resource for The One Ring: Adventures Over the Edge of the Wild describing the lands of the River and the Forest – the Vales of Anduin along the banks of the Great River, and the trackless forest of Mirkwood to the east. It expands on the descriptions given in the Loremaster’s Guide, offering new sanctuaries and new perils for the players to discover. Each region is described in detail, listing potential friends and foes, sites of interest and potential adventures.

An expanded bestiary contains a host of strange creatures and servants of the Enemy, from the beasts of the forest to the fabled Great Spiders. Variant Cultural Backgrounds like River Hobbits or Wayward Elves offer new options for adventurers, while new Fellowship Phase actions bring the wild to life in your games.

Follow the Anduin river down from the chill springs of the Misty Mountains to the southern edge of the Wild! Explore the dread forest of Mirkwood, running from the lonely thickets of the north to the very gates of Dol Guldur! Enter the Heart of the Wild, and defend it against the rising Shadow.

Also available as a print and pdf bundle from our webstore.

Whoa. I'm absolutely blown away by this book. Thank you Gareth, Francesco, Jon, & your team for all of the hard work you've lovingly lavished on this masterpiece. I can't be happier :D

Let me be the first to say to our fellow fans that if you love this game you just have to purchase this one - they've packed so many hours of play into this baby that will it take you weeks to read it all.

Got the email from RPGNow last night and downloaded.

Surprised it arrived before Gencon to be honest, thought that would be pdf release like the One Ring itself, but not complaining.

Might not get chance to read it until I have my holiday.

Looking forwards to the hardcopy.

Business wise, is it the same for you if I buy it from another source? like rpgnow or drivethrurpg? or is it better for you if I buy it from your webpage?

Cheers,
Yepes

I'd say not having to pay RPGNOW or Drivethru their 20/30/40% share would make buying it from C7 direct the best choice but the vagaries of the ebusiness model may make that assumption invalid.

been reading through, Wow, what a beautiful book. Got my imagination running away with itself. I don't think it will take weeks to read, but it will definitely take months to play through all the things in here, or years even. Very nice job guys, thanks!

I finally got the widely go ahead to preorder it yesterday! I know Iprobably won't get the download code until Monday, but these books fill me with childish anticipation. I can't wait!

By the way, since I'm a new dad I get little time to read, so I often listen to books with an iPhone app called Voice Dream, using the US voice, Heather, which is my wife's name. I think it's also Stephen Hawking's drag stripper name, because its like listening to him read in a female voice. The One Ring books are amoung the very small number of rpg books that make me forget the computer voice!

Yours in fellowship,
Stephen "Trotter"

Hello,

I received my download-code two days ago and I managed to read about 80% of the book.
My opinion: great artwork, kudos to everyone involved in designing this book, you managed to catch (or bring?) a feeling of greatness and darkness to Mirkwood and the Vales of the Anduin.
The wealth of information delivered with this book is so big, that it can fuel many evenings of adventure.
My group just finished "A Darkness in the Marshes" from "Tales of Wilderland" and I wanted to fill the gap to the next adventure with a creation of my own. "Heart of the Wild" gave me so many ideas and so much to think about that I could easily fill a new campaign. But I think I will only use the information about some places and personalities and spare the rest of the book for "The Darkening of Mirkwood".

Great work!

Berengar

P.S.: I think your "Bits and Mortar"-method is great. I like both, early access to the pdf and portability with my iPad and the look and feel of a "real" book.

I'm of the same opinion. PDFs and 'real' books serve very different gaming needs for me, both being important. I'm not sure if I could effectively do without either nowadays.
