Heroic characters stats?

Post by Aiwendil » Mon Jul 22, 2013 10:52 pm

Out of curiosity, have any of you generated NPC sheets for 'heroic' characters? I have Beorn (but in bear form only) and am looking for Radagast as well.

I realize these characters are meant to be peripherally engaged in adventures (i.e. passive rather than active role), but it would be great to have 'stats' to guide some of the more relevant 'rolls' which could potentially come into play when interacting with PCs: courtesy, lore, craft, etc...

As it stands now, I feel it is entirely up to the LM (i.e. total judgment call) to decide whether this or that succeeds/fails....

Thoughts?

Cheers!

I've statted up Beorn in human form, as well as Thranduil, Bilbo and Glorfindel. Bilbo and Glorfindel were the only ones I gave any fighting skills to however, as I mainly statted them to get an idea for their interactions with the players

Would be nice if you provided the stat-blocks for the rest of us, Beleg, thanks.

Oh alright then :D
Let's see if this works...
I should point out that there's a very real chance these guys seem too powerful etc, but I created them when starting out, so I may well have done them differently were I to stat them up now

Beorn:

Attribute Level: 9
Endurance: 40
Hope: 10
Parry: 7
Armour: 2d

Skills:
Personality: 5
Movement: 5
Perception: 3
Survival: 3
Custom: 0
Vocation: 3

Thranduil:

Attribute Level: 9
Endurance: 30
Hope: 7
Parry: 6
Armour: 1d

Skills:
Personality: 4
Movement: 3
Perception: 4
Survival: 1
Custom: 3
Vocation: 3

Glorfindel: (I subscribe to the believe that Glorfindel is the Glorfindel who died fighting a Balrog in the First Age)

Attribute Level: 10
Endurance: 34
Hope: 12
Parry: 8
Armour: 4d

Skills:
Personality: 3
Movement: 5
Perception: 2
Survival: 1
Custom: 3
Vocation: 4

Bilbo:

Attribute Level: 6
Endurance: 22
Hope: 18
Parry: 4
Armour: 5d (Mithril Vest)

Skills:
Personality: 2
Movement: 5
Perception: 4
Survival: 0
Custom: 6 (mainly for Riddle)
Vocation: 1

So those are the stat blocks, make of them what you will. Bilbo and Glorfindel also have weapon skills and special abilites, but I left them out for fear that this post will go on for ever :P

... Would be interested in seeing those to be honest! Special Abilities for NPCs are few and far between in the current books we have so others would help to use or get ideas from.

Thanks for posting these here! Very helpful.

This has the potential to become yet another cool community-driven resource; a compendium of major NPCs of the time/regions.

I would be willing to help out with the formatting but I know I won't be able to do half as good of a job as Rich... :(

I've dropped the standard 'Adversary' stat block for Loremaster Characters, in favor of how they are being done now in the Lake-town/Tales from Wilderland/Heart of the Wild. With that in mind, here are two:

Gandalf the Grey
Attribute Level: 11
Specialities: Folk-lore, Smoking
Distinctive Features: Secretive, Steadfast
Relevant skills: Insight ♦♦♦♦, Inspire ♦♦♦♦♦, Persuade ♦♦♦♦♦, Travel ♦♦♦♦, Sword ♦♦♦
Endurance: 99

Wizardry: Blinding Flash, Break Binding, Burning Sparks, Enchant Food, Fiery Missile, Fireshaping, Flame of Anor, Imitation-spell, Kindle Fire, Light-spell, Opening-spell, Quench Fire, Resist Fear, Shattering-spell, Shutting-spell, Smoke Weaving, Mindspeech, Sundering-spell, Travel Blessing, Voice of Command, Watershaping, Word of Command.

Glamdring: Sword of Gondolin; Glows blue when Orcs are near; great or extraordinary combat success inflicts automatic piercing blow against Orcs.

Ring of Fire: Narya (Ring of Power). The effects of being temporarily Weary or Miserable are negated for the Ring bearer and those who travel with him; A Free Attribute bonus is provided to all companions for rolls to heal Corruption.

Radagast the Brown
Attribute Level: 10
Specialities: Beast-lore, Herb-lore
Distinctive Features: Secretive, Cunning
Relevant skills: Insight ♦♦♦♦, Healing ♦♦♦, Lore ♦♦♦♦♦, Riddle ♦♦♦
Endurance: 90

Wizardry: Animal Messenger, Beast Protection, Beast Speech, Beast Summoning, Break Binding, Concealment-spell, Enchant Food, Healing-spell, Imitation-spell, Light-spell, Mastery of Shapes, Mind-speech, Misdirection, Opening-spell, Power of the Land, Shutting-spell, Slumber, Travel Blessing, Voice of Command, Word of Command

The Wizardry spells come from my home brewed Magic in Middle-earth, in which spells (ripped from the Decipher's LotR game) are converted to The One Ring. I give Maia and such beings 2 spells per Advancement level; Elves get 1 point per Advancement (if they are Noldo).

I assume each LM Character has Hope equal to their Advancement Level for use in spell casting.

Galadriel
Attribute Level 10
Specialities: Elf-lore, Shadow-lore
Distinctive Features: Fair, Lordly
Relevant Skills: Awe ♦♦♦♦♦, Insight♦♦♦♦, Lore ♦♦♦♦
Endurance: 22

Wizardry: Farseeing, Fog-raising, Fog-weaving, Mind-speech, Misdirection, Mist of Speed, Power of the Land, Rain-ward, Sundering, Veil

Nenya: Ring of Power. A servant of the Shadow must have an Attribute level equal to the combined total of the bearers Wisdom and Valor to be able to enter the Ring Bearer’s sanctuary. Additionally, the ring bearers sanctuary is treated as having a continuous Veil spell on it.

Here goes then :D

Glorfindel:

Weapons:
Elven Glaive (those thingies from the opening scene in The Fellowship of the Ring film, for lack of a better name): 6
Damage: 9/11, Edge: 9, Injury: 18/20, Called Shot: Disarm

Abilities:
Asfaloth: While Glorfindel is riding Asfaloth, he gains a bonus to damage of +2, and he may expend a Hope point to reroll the Feat die.
Elf-Lord: Spend a point of Hope to force all enemies near Glorfindel to roll a Fear test against TN 18 [Feat die plus highest Attribute Level of the enemies.]

Bilbo:

Weapons:
Sting: 3
Damage: 6, Edge: 9, Injury: 16, Called Shot: Disarm

Abilities:
One Ring: Reduce Bilbo's Hope score by one to put on the ring. Reduce Hope score by one for each subsequent round spent invisible. While invisible, all attacks instantly hit, however, roll the Feat Die to determine if the attack is a Piercing blow. If the Eye is rolled, Bilbo becomes visible and cannot put the Ring back on while in combat.
Riddle Me This: Instead of attacking, Bilbo can make a Riddle roll [All 6 dice] against a TN of 10, plus the highest Attribute level of all enemies. On a successful roll, the enemy is confused, and the enemy's parry rating is lowered by 1, 2 or 3 points, depending on the degree of success, and the TN for the enemy to hit is raised by 1, 2 or 3 depending on success, for one round. A Gandalf Rune results in either additional targets being confused, depending on the number of sixes, or in the target enemy's parry rating being reduced to the base stance TN for one round. An Eye results in Bilbo confusing himself, and lowering his parry rating to the base TN and increasing his to hit by 4 for one round.
