I wasn't referring to the OP, actually.

There's a big difference between, "Hey, are we going to make the schedule? I know that isn't always the case..." and "This company sucks at living up to their promises."

@PST, I see you are fairly new around here and may not be familiar with the repeating topics we get. One of which is the perennial subject of product releases in the One Ring line. In the beginning there was a release schedule that fell apart due to the practicalities of dealing with an approval process that bordered on harsh, even worse that that of the BBC and their Doctor Who intellectual property. Since then we've seen slow improvements as C7's team have adjusted to a release rate commensurate with the facts of life when M-e E are involved in a project and millions of dollars ride on their ability to ensure that the terms of their licence from the Tolkien Estate are not exceeded.

This year the TOR release schedule has been such that dates have generally been met with the exception of one product where printing issues led to an unusually lengthy period for that item. One person in this thread, not the OP, has consistently posted on this forum very negative comments about C7's delivery of product and your post has crossed paths with the response to that post.

I gotta confess that I am still slowly gloating* over my Revised rule hard copy: I've got the Rivendell pdf and have read it through. I've scanned the C7 website assiduously for scraps of information on Ruins & all the rest.

I do enjoy the hard copy a lot more than reading it on a screen. I am more than happy to wait for Rivendell (hard copy) to appear before I use it. As an aside, knowing what is going to be in Rivendell just means that when I plan Darkening of Mirkwood episodes I can think a little more about a positive direction to move in.

However, if the release schedule 2014 ends up being a bit out of synch... so what? C7's TOR products have been worth the wait.
So the DofM came out a bit later than last April - it doesn't matter now. Has anyone gone through the whole 30 year campaign yet? Is there anyone who NEEDS Rivendell/Ruins/HorseLords/(the future) to carry on?

I can understand the eager anticipation for the next release but why rail against C7 for being bold enough to offer a few dates? They don't have to do that: they are trying to meet their own promises. More importantly I hope that they are not going to sacrifice quality for an earlier print date. Quality is the real promise C7 is holding to and I can only thank them again for keeping to that one. :D (I don't ever want the feeling I got with a different RPG that was released after the PJ LOTR file trilogy: it fell short of its promise, and kept on falling short)

*"reading carefully" just doesn't explain the depraved sense of warm smugness I get as I turn pages in this book. Gloating is a little more honest about another product I feel is gaining a One Ring hold over me... my precious.

Yeah, my Christmas list this year is going to be all (or nearly all) TOR-related! :D

This is very much how I've viewed things as well. There's already so much stuff out there, and of such a high quality, is there really anybody who has gone through it all and is desparate for more?

The same here in Spain.
Next week we'll have the Revised Corebook in stores, but DoM is still not out.

Probably a sales strategy: Core book + Campaign, but strange either way.

We don't even have that. The last publication published was HotW... And that was a year ago :(

They've been following it all year.
That's my opinion as well. I think they've been great in releasing the supplements as and when they said they would - PDFs on time, print copies following on afterwards.

Let's bear in mind also that when Autumn starts and finishes *is* open to debate:

Astronomical Autumn begins around the 21 September (at the Equinox) continuing until the Winter Solstice (around 21 December), but it should be noted that Astronomical seasons are about three weeks behind the meteorological ones; so it really depends on peoples' point of view and what they are actually talking about.

Best to use a bit of common sense and have a relaxed attitude - I generally take the astronomical dates of when to expect something to be released as that is the latest date that someone may be talking about when they say "it's coming out in Autumn" but budget for meteorological dates when putting aside money for any products.

To be honest I was surprised at the proposed release schedule for this year as well. Up until now the most products put out for TOR in a year has been, what, 3 items and this year they proposed 5 products? But, I took the schedule with a large grain of salt and so far haven't been disappointed.
