The One Ring original art from Jeremy McHugh

Post by Jeremy McHugh » Thu Dec 11, 2014 8:59 pm

My name is Jeremy McHugh and I am an illustrator that has worked on Rivendell and Hobbit Tales ( and Rocket Age).
The artwork I do for Cubicle 7 is executed in pencil and acrylics.

I've been having a blast working with the team on these books and it brings me great pleasure to know you are enjoying the game.
If anyone is interested, the original art is available to collectors, as well.

I did just run a holiday sale on my Tolkien work and am willing to honor those prices through Christmas for members of this forum. :)

Thanks for reading and I hope you like my work.

Thanks for posting Jeremy, I noticed your art in Rivendell and really liked it; very complimentary in style to the other artists that work on the TOR line and I hope you have other pics in the pipeline for the game.

Interesting as well that your work isn't computerised either! I thought most artists working nowadays produce their final pieces on computer art applications with only things like preliminary sketches and the like being done in the 'old school' way.

Agreed. Your stuff is great, and especially as a fellow artist who works with pencil and ink, it's refreshing to find another person that does it old school! :)
Tale of Years for a second, lower-level group (in the same campaign).

Thanks!
I'm glad you like it. :)

Funny story:
I was actually a digital painter the first 7 years or so of my career and began working old school in the past few years.
I went in pretty much the reverse direction that others have gone weirdly enough.
At first, it was all digital from rough through to finished art and no pencil touched paper.

Then I began doing a tight pencil stage that would be scanned and digitally painted over for the final.
Eventually, the computer was used only for scanning my acrylic and watercolor paintings and delivering the final artwork with occasional touch-up work in photoshop. :)

It is a lot of fun to work this way and that seems to be my primary motivation for picking up the colored mud and furry sticks. :)
