Rule sheet

Post by Bokvakk » Fri Dec 19, 2014 4:54 pm

I am a pretty new game master in this game, so I wondered if anyone has a sheet with all, or at least the
Ones most commonly used, rules? It would be very convenient to have all of them easy accessible! I have done some Google searches, but I dindt find anything.

Thank you very much! This will help A LOT! I find the rules in the book a little too much scattered around, and nit very clear. Here I have all the rules in one place, exactly what I was looking for!

Know what else would be cool/useful? A two-pager that could be handed out to first time players with the bare essentials of what you need to know to play. I.e., both rules and concepts. But trying to leave out anything that the LM can and will supply. For example, "Your LM will tell you when to make a Fatigue test and what the penalty is for failing" is probably all that's needed, rather than an exposition on how Journeys are computed. But explaining the 4 Journey roles and which skill each uses is information players can use.

1) How the dice rolling works.
2) The three uses of Traits
3) Hope and Shadow
4) The Journey/Encounter/Combat triad, and how preliminary rolls are used
5) Journeys: travel roles with key skills, and the effect of ponies and boats
6) Encounters: The general concept behind Tolerance (maybe with a short example)
7) Combat: explanation of stances and TNs, requirements for rearward, combat tasks
8) Fellowship Phase: very general explanation

What do you think? Pack that into 2 pages and still make it readable? Hmm....this is a project I might tackle.

Cool. I'd be glad to help out formatting wise.

I made a first draft. I'm open to any and all suggestions for what should be in it. What rules/concepts do you think first-time players should understand?

I'm always a bit wary with fan made rules cheat sheets. Shouldn't it be up to the company how many and what rules they want to see published for free?

I'm sensitive to this. My goal is to make the summary be effectively useless without the rules. I.e., explaining how common skills are used, but not listing the common skills.

Also, the idea is that the LM hands the sheets out to the players, so presumably the LM will have purchased the rules, but it's pretty hard to enforce distribution. On the other hand, I'm going to put some work into this for myself, and it seems a shame to do all that work and not share it.

Any suggestions?
