Rich H shares the future of the One Ring on TFG

Post by barefoottourguide » Fri Jan 09, 2015 11:32 pm

Rich H talks with me on Threats From Gallifrey for an hour about meeting the C7 staff at DragonCon, what he learned from the seminars there and his fave parts of the Rivendell supplement.
Listen to the show at http://misdirectedmark.com/threats-from ... ppers-pt1/
Part 2 can be heard or downloaded from http://misdirectedmark.com/part-2-of-tf ... -slippers/.

I started listening just to hear your voice Rich. I will try and finish up a bit later. For anyone that wants to know, listen to Part 2 for the bits about The One Ring. I listened to quite a bit of Part 1 not knowing this. Very geeky. Nice.

Awesome stuff. Thanks for pointing that out, james, as it was nice to skip right to the part where we get to hear Rich.

Sounds like the C7 "blokes" are as great in person as they are on the forums. :) And it's no surprise to hear about the care that goes into Jon's art and design; it's obvious from the beauty of the books themselves.

I'm curious about the Facebook group Rich mentions in the podcast. I took a look and couldn't find anything close. Anybody got an idea about what/who this group is?

Sorry to post so many times in a row, but I'm just now getting to the end of the podcast. The part about embellishing the stories of a group of heroes is really fun.

Already our Hobbit Treasure-hunter fashions himself as the party leader. He also tends to exaggerate and embellish stories pretty regularly, mostly to his fellow adventurers. I can see some of the tales he started 'growing' over the years, perhaps getting changed and distorted some.

Poor you! :) ... I still can't listen to myself - I find it really difficult but I do enjoying chatting with Garrett; it's great to chat to people that without things like Skype and Google Hangouts we'd otherwise have no chance of communicating with in such an immediate way.

I did waffle on a lot! It was nice to chat about all the great things at Dragonmeet (esp. with Cubicle 7) and I realise we're on the TOR subforum and Garrett chats to me with that in mind but I couldn't not mention things like the Doctor Who card game and Lone Wolf. Apologies if that makes it a bit challenging to listen to all the way through.

They are - met Dom, Jon, Andrew and Nick (who was demo'ing the Doctor Who card game) and they were all genuinely nice guys who were rushed off their feet but would always make time to talk to people. Joe Dever (Lone Wolf) was there at the stall as well and he was brilliant too.

Jon's art seminar was the highlight for me; I love listening to stuff like that and it wasn't boring as Jon has an easy (if a little nervous!) manner and a great sense of humour, so time flew by; in fact I think he could've talked about a lot more - I know I'd have been okay with that! I bought his One Ring sketchbook too. Still blown away that I have something like that.

I think that was just Joe Dever's own personal facebook page where he posts things about Lone Wolf. It's therefore not related to TOR but I do think people who like Tolkien would also enjoy Joe's Lone Wolf and the Magnamund setting as a whole. I'm not a... fan... of Facebook, so don't use it; I therefore can't say for certain whether that's what you alluding to be Joe did mention he has an active Facebook page.

That developed completely organically just from the chat we were having and I loved Garrett's suggestions - thought there were some really cool ideas that I'll certainly use - assuming I ever get to play TOR again. :(

Cool! Those pesky hobbits; short in stature but always telling tall tales! :)
