Wild Hobbits

Post by Angelalex242 » Mon Jan 26, 2015 2:25 am

Do these guys HAVE any rewards? They're blank on the Character Generator, but they don't appear to have the same rewards as hobbits of the Shire.

Their Rewards can be items salvaged from the site where Isildur was ambushed. As per RAW, they´re the same as the ones for the Shire Hobbits.

Wild Hobbits and the clans fo Mountain Hall are two of the my biggest problems in terms of characterization, we got so little information on them that they're really hard to use as PCs. I hope that the Adventurer's Guide will fix this.

... I agree but I'm sure some folk here had a stab at creating some unique virtues and rewards? Not at home so can't check properly.

I was thinking of barbarian Hobbit, scantily clad in raw fur and holding mighty two handed fork :/

Ok I'm out

Wild Hobbits dont have access to the cultural rewards of the hobbit of the Shire, only the qualitie rewards
Finally, while all Cultural Virtues of the Shire-folk are normally available to wild Hobbits, their Cultural Rewards are not.
Thanks, vilainn6, I had forgotten this part.

I've dug these out of an old file - apologies; don't know who their source is.

Cultural Rewards

Wooden Spear
Made of an unknown kind of wood, this spear has no metal head. Instead, its tip was hardened with fire and it had proved a hundred times to be lighter and more resistant than the others.

You can attack so fast with the wooden Spear that you roll the Feat dice twice and keep the best result, representing the advantage of your light weapon.

Armour of Fortimbras the Mighty
Legend tells that Fortimbras the Mighty himself, the greatest hero of your people, and his trusted warriors received these armours as a gift from a king of the Northmen long ago for his help in a battle. These leather corslets are reinforced with small bronze plates and some of them have been carefully preserved until now.

If hit by a Piercing blow while wearing an Armour of Fortimbras, roll the Feat die twice and keep the best result on the Protection test.

Teeth-breakers
The teeth-breakers are iron balls used as sling missiles. They are smaller and heavier than common stones and can be thrown with greater accuracy. Metal is a luxury for Anduin Hobbits, so these items are highly prized.

When you throw a teeth-breaker with your sling, damage is increased by 1 point. In addition, any called shot is considered to be piercing, since it is aimed at an unarmoured location or soft spot.

That's mine! Good to know somebody remember it.
In fact I developped them as a full-fleshed Culture before the official version came out. If you need names, backgrounds and so for your Wild Hobbits, here you are: Link

On second thought, the Armour of Fortimbras should be some kind of lesser magical item with a preservation spell on it (or pehaps Elven-made) to last that long (Hobbit migration across the Misty Mountins was in T.A. 1050 and Fortimbras story should be older).

Not at all.

Armor of Fortinbras is literally just renamed Lucky Armor. Does the exact same thing.

Wooden spear does the same thing as spear of King Blad, except wooden spear works on melee attacks too, so it's strictly superior to spear of King Blad.

The Teethbreaker is completely unique.

The Rewards were never the problem, it was the Backgrounds.
