This will always happen though. A generalist will always have lesser skills than specialists. However, they have breadth of skill. I would suggest that, in a tavern brawl, your other character would have excelled while the specialists wouldn't have had much success; unless they were willing to whip out the longswords and start killing people - with the resulting shadow point gains.

Swords do have a flat part too, you know.

But either way, it makes it difficult for most combat. One of the characters is useless 96% of the time, and all the other characters are useless the other 4% of the time. I don't see how that solves the problem of people having nothing useful to do in a combat encounter.

There's significant difference between defending yourself with reasonable force (ie, if someone punches you, you punch back) and pulling a sword on them.

Anyway, this thread is rapidly, if not already, descending into ridiculousness.
