Re: treasure
However, many PCs are more likely to just use treasure to boost standing, as standing is, 9/10, the best way to use treasure if you get it.
Re: treasure
Ok guys another question in the same vain .
How much treasure would you normally give out in an adventure ?

Not a joke, exactly. It's very dependant on what the heroes do, and who they are doing it for. If they are west of Mirkwood, their reward should be minimal and much more about accommodations and obligations than physical money.
In the east, things can be a bit different... Kings should be gold-givers, so Bard and Dain might reward service handsomely (look at where your characters are in Standing and determine where you want them to be and how fast to get there... if you want everyone to be Standing 1 by the third adventure, you probably want to give each character 5 Treasure each adventure).
I tend to be very miserly in my rewards, and my players (bless them!) are completely interested in other stuff. I doubt half of them have realised that Bard gave them a ton (10 Treasure) at the end of the last adventure... it just wasn't important to us, and thus we breezed by it.
Jacob Rodgers, occasional nitwit.

Re: treasure
Yeah, it depends on standing. And standing, in turn, increases tolerance and lets you interact with the higher ups.
In this game, social interactions are pay to play. So if you find treasure (ideally 12 points of it...) you just ship it off to your king and power up.

Re: treasure
I share a similar stand point and also allow Standing to increase in your Home Culture (and others) through actual deeds done so Treasure simply isn't important to my campaign, my players, or their characters. I really don't like the idea that the RAW have Standing only increasing through spending Treasure and wish that we'd have got a mechanic similar to Glory in Pendragon. Still, the house rules I use go a long way to addressing that for me.zedturtle wrote:0.saltmarsh wrote:Ok guys another question in the same vain .

Re: treasure
Same here, Treasure is scarce and mostly found in hoards (and there aren't hoards every adventure).
I too find the prices to rise Standing too high, so the Renown system by Rich suits me perfectly.
Besides, to have something useful to do with the Treasure, I also use a modified version of zedturtle's (?) Holding Rules, where Treasure can be invested to open and improve your Holding.
And then, my players use Treasure to roleplay: the Woodman character, who was despised by his family for running on adventures instead of accepting his communal role in town, sends them Treasure every year to convince them that adventuring can bring fortune to the family and community.
