My condolences, Rich.
It's something we know is going to happen, but it's always too soon.

That makes it even sadder - he was younger than me; not yet 40.Otaku-sempai wrote:EDIT: I originally listed the wrong Michael Tolkien by mistake. Apologies for the error.

Re: R.I.P. Michael Baker (1975 - 2015)
People have asked after me, so thought it would be okay to post here that I'm okay and thank you to everyone for all the kind messages here and in PMs.
I managed to stand up and give a speech about me and my dad, and it wasn't as horrid as I thought it could be. I took a friend's advice and typed my speech out fully rather than just use notes and it really helped. Got a round of applause afterwards which I thought was really nice and everyone said what a good speech it was. Was really difficult though; I was physically shaking when I was making it but being able to just read it helped so much.
I'm sure my dad would have provided some comments and feedback but overall I think he'd have been happy with what I did!
Thanks.

Good to hear that, Rich. I dread when that day comes for me.

My condolences Rich, it's a hard thing to go through. And well done on the speech--I'm sure it meant a lot to those there to be able to hear it.

Hi Rich,
Just wanted to offer my condolences and for what it's worth, I lost me mum a while ago and even now it's weird, but it does get better.
Kindest Regards,
Steve
