Horror of the Wood

Post by Majestic » Tue Feb 03, 2015 10:08 pm

The Wood Wight (DoM) has a new Special Ability called Horror of the Wood, which raises the TN for Battle (presumably for Preliminary Rolls) by its Attribute Level (5).

But being as it also has Denizen of the Dark, shouldn't it actually raise the TN by 10? (to a ridiculous 24?)

No.

In this thread (viewtopic.php?f=7&t=3261) Francesco clarified that Denizen of the Dark only applies to rolls made by the creature.

D'oh! I knew that, and had even copied and pasted that into a brief document to remind myself. Thanks, bluejay!

Resurrection!

I just used a wood-wight in my campaign and I wonder what good its Denizen of the Dark ability is if NONE of its skills is favoured.

I let it fight in the dark and thought "boy, that's gonna be a tough fight" previousely to the battle.

I never got to use the +10 however, didn't see that before...

Mistake or on purpose and if on purpose, what did I miss?

It was confirmed that there should be favoured elements of its stats:
Francesco wrote:Wood-wights should have Perception and Strangling Claws as Favoured skills. It was an oversight in The Heart of the Wild that creeped into The Darkening of Mirkwood pdf, but that has been fixed in the files sent to the printer.

I have both Darkening and Heart of the Wild as English AND German pdf and in all 4 it's not corrected. The hard copy I have is the German version - also not corrected.

So many thankys for the clarification! :)
