best drink(s) for playing The One Ring or Hobbit Tales

Post by Balou1917 » Fri Feb 13, 2015 4:05 am

I love rpg's, I also really enjoying the "right" drink for the occasion... in your humble opinion what is the correct drink to have with this entertainment? My lovely wife thinks hobbit tales is a drinking game, and I have to admit it pretty much seems to be.... also I really want a pipe of long bottom leaf and different ales while playing the one ring. So I'm wondering what is the rest of middle earth enjoying while exploring......

A fine Ale or mead seems appropriate, I prefer the English style ales - "Old Thumper" from Ringwood Brewery was a favourite :D
I have several pipes including a churchwarden (long-stemmed variety), and enjoy a very occasional puff.
The group that I LM for are my son & his mates, they are around 16, so no drinking or pipes at our sessions.

That depends where you are in Middle-earth, I suppose. Mead if you're with the Beornings, the finest red wine if you're staying with the elves in Thranduil's halls, ale with the Bardings...

If you're worried about getting drunk too quickly, you could also start with some cider.

... It has to be a strong pint of bear for me, especially if I'm playing with a couple of Beornings.

I would have tought having pints of bear would be a serious offence among Beornings.

A fine, full bodied red from Dorwinion.
With strong note of rasperry, a bit of cherry and a hint of licorice at the palate.

This would fits very well for me.

Yep, get under yer opponents skin, almost literally in this case. Win the game. It's all about the winning.

That's right, I still owe Rich H a pint of bear. It's on my list for next time I get up to Alaska. As playing TOR with the perfect drink in hand? I personally like champagne because it's delicious. I bet they've got champagne in Lothlorien; maybe I'll have to go on a quest.
