I tried doing a search here on the topic, but no posts turned up. If anyone is interested, there's a One Ring Adventure written by Shane Ivey in the latest issue of Gygax Magazine which is up for download right now on DrivethruRPG.
I was hoping for One Ring presence at Gary Con last year, as the game has parts that are very reminiscent of old school adventuring. Unfortunately there wasn't any, but I'm hoping for a game or two to appear on the schedule next year!
Gygax Magazine One Ring Adventure
Re: Gygax Magazine One Ring Adventure
Hi! Thanks for that
We have talked about the magazine on here before, there was definite interest and hope that TOR might may feature one day, so it's great to see an adventure in issue 2!
I am curious about something, given C7's problems with the digital format and licensing, was (pleasantly) surprised to see an TOR adventure by anyone else. Just bought and downloaded issue #2, will have a look

I've just added this magazine adventure to a list of adventures from conventions and other places, located here -

Re: Gygax Magazine One Ring Adventure
I had a bunch of friends that hit GenCon but couldn't find the magazine anywhere, which was disappointing.
Re: Gygax Magazine One Ring Adventure
... Not blown away by the adventure, I'm afraid. I'd say it's the weakest one I've seen published; whether that be free or paid for.
The basic synopsis is that a hill troll turns up near a village to the east of Long Lake and eventually his family. Trouble ensues. There are some interesting mechanics for handling large groups of combatants but, in my opinion, they aren't in the same league as stuff posted here - eg, James R Brown's Mythic Battles, etc. At $4.99 the magazine is worth picking up if you have the spare cash but keep your expectations fairly low. I'll not be using the adventure but may use the village as background colour for my campaign and some the NPCs have stat blocks so those will be useful.
So, not all bad!

Re: Gygax Magazine One Ring Adventure
I thought it wasn't too bad! Of course it's kept quite simple, and I agree with Rich H that there are better rules for mass combat. But on the positive side, I like the way you can interact with the trolls. Reminded me of the Hobbit, and fleshes them out as characters and not just sword fodder. It also reminded me a bit of Beowulf's encounter with Grendel (well, I guess that was the 'monster and its mother' part). In fact, any decent LM could take it more into that direction and thus flesh out the atmosphere.
