I love Jian Guo's art too! I discovered it last fall and was enchanted. I put a link on my Facebook page & suggested that a print would be a good Christmas gift - and I got one! Return of the King!

I recently picked up these two pieces:

Both really cool. The pics above don't do them justice as they just show a fraction of the full picture.

I know many of you will like this... a lot. All bow to the Master of pencils (with Jon's permission):

!
And it seems that these were drafts for a potential novel graphic of LotR, that was vetoed by the Tolkien family.
Can you imagine a LotR graphic novel illustrated by Angus McBride? Can you? CAN YOU?!

Wish I had!!!

This are from the Facebook profile "Angus McBride". Lately it seems that one his sons/daughters is posting every few days works form his dad: illustrations, family photos, drafts, poems,... along with personal memories of how his father worked. Very interesting to follow this days.

That sounds really cool. Can't bring myself to use Facebook, unfortunately. You'll have to keep me informed! ;)

Very true. I know Jon loves Angus' work. He was an incredible artist. I really like Jon's stuff too and have to say he shades it for me but this could be bias due to knowing him, him doing commissions for me, and him being one of the current TOR artists. I do like the almost impressionistic style Jon brings to his landscapes especially; they often have a dreamlike quality which I really enjoy.
