NPC list?
NPC list?
Out of curiosity is there a list of official TOR npc's and the source material they can be found in?
I looked through several resources here and didn't find anything.
Thanks

Re: NPC list?
My list here is sadly out of date and contains info specific to my campaigns (with the attendant changes) but it might help some: http://wiki.rpg.net/index.php/The_People_of_Rhovanion

Re: NPC list?
I've thought of doing one, as it's what I've done in my Star Wars game.
Tale of Years for a second, lower-level group (in the same campaign).
Re: NPC list?
Thanks for posting that list zedturtle.
I bought all the TOR material except the Ruins of the North. And will soon get that one too.
My problem is not having enough time to study it all, I can't get into them as often as I would like, and then... forgetting where I read about this or that.
But I learned a new trick.
If you have all the source material PDF's in one folder, open any PDF and do an advanced search.
You can select that folder, type in what you're looking for and it will search through all the pdf's in that folder and return a list you can click on and open the pfd to that page.

Cool. I'm been meaning to spend time updating my list; I really want to have my players get a sense of a persistent living world where things go on without them.

Re: NPC list?
I have done a similar list for Rocket Age including the pages where the stat blocks are located. It definitely can help to provide the sense of a living world.
Re: NPC list?
I do the same for my campaign, except at the moment its a chaotic collection of names scrawl on multiple pieces of scrap paper! I really need to consolidate them all...

Something like this (but free
) - https://www.thecityofbrass.com/
Would be really useful for storing all those bits of information and keeping track of who knows who and when /where they met them. Perhaps people already have apps they use for this sort of stuff? A customisable list of NPC's for TOR would be very cool.
I have nothing to do with this kickstarter btw.

Re: NPC list?
A Wiki would be the best way of doing this. There are several options for personal wiki software that could be used locally on a laptop but probably not a tablet/phone though.
Some TOR Information on my G+ Drive.

Hmm, using a TiddlyWiki could be a neat fit for this: a self-contained wiki in a HTML page, which can be viewed offline and (with browser plugins) save changes across a variety of different platforms/browsers.Hermes Serpent wrote:A Wiki would be the best way of doing this. Simply being able to create and record links between different NPCs would be useful, but taking it to the next level, there is already e.g. an implementation of a contact address book that might perhaps be the basis for a more extended sort of NPC register. I imagine too a customisation to add in links to the PDFs for Heart of the Wild, Rivendell etc. opening at the relevant page, somewhat like Glorelendil's Bestiary...
May have a tinker around with this, whenever I get the time!
