I'm pretty sure Luthien was fully Elf, yet she was able to become mortal for Beren. That's why I wasn't sure that Elrond's children were half elves. That and the fact Elrong chose to be an Elf while his brother chose to be Human. That's just my view anyway

And while I'm at it, allow me to opine that I also hope for no half-dragons, half-trolls, half-giants, drow, tieflings, or aasimars either. :ugeek:

And yes I agree half-elves, and Noldor should not be "officially supported" as PC races for the purpose of world-continuity purposes (as they are legendary beings) and game-balance. However, while I say "official" I have no beef with groups that wish to add these elements to their group for use - if that's the flavor you're after. Fan created material still makes up a good portion of any RPG and this trend should continue.

Then by the logic you use to take out Noldor as a possible culture you would have to take out Rangers of the North. Also Not every Noldor you read about is a Legendary Being the ones mentioned in the books in my mind would be the most powerful of them. Now would they be more powerful then current races certainly, but not even a Noldor can best a large group of orcs alone.

Correct me if I am wrong, but is the character not known as Elrond "Half Elven" in the books? If so the Elladan and Elrohir (hope I got the names right) are definetly Half Elven as well. And, again correct me if I am wrong, but I have been under the impression that anyone of elf blood can decide to become mortal.

Technically Elrond's children would be at least a quarter of the race of man, maybe a little less due to the maiar in the family tree. However Elrond is counted as a elf since thats what he chose to be counted as.

Beran, yes, he is Elrond Half Elven. I always thought of it more as a title though. Different interpretations and all that I guess

"... maybe a little less due to the maiar in the family tree. However Elrond is counted as a elf since thats what he chose to be counted as."

Well, and good, but he is still a Half Elf by birth. Deciding to be counted as an Elf or Mortal doesn't change that. It only changes the ultimate outcome of life...either they die a mortal death or they leave the Grey Harbours.

Right on everything except the last bit. A full-blooded Elf cannot choose to become Mortal--only those who are considered Half-elven.

Technically, yes on account that her mother wasn't an elf (Melian the Maia), still she chose to die as Beran did even though neither parent was 'mortal'.

Have in mind that the elves could die from sadness. So, Luthien is possible to die from sadness after the pass of Beren.
