King's men virtue

Post by Yepesnopes » Fri Jul 24, 2015 3:06 pm

"Raise your maximum Endurance score by 3 points.
Additionally, from now on the cost of raising your skill
rating in Sword, Long Sword, Spear or Great Bow is
lowered by 1 Experience point at each level."

1) Does it count for (swords)?

2) Does it mean that if you take the weapon package
(swords) 2
spear 1
dagge 1

King's men is of no use until you acquire the appropriate weapon skill?

Hmm. I'd require that the character specialise at that point. It does help, because you might (if you have enough XP) pick up both the Virtue and the weapon skill improvement (at reduced cost) in the same Fellowship Phase.

Ok, I have to revise the rules, I don't know now how you pass from let's say (swords) 2 to long sword 3 for example

Ah. This confused me for the longest too.

(Swords) 2 becomes:

(Swords) 2 and
Sword 3

Then they're two different skills which get improved separately.

This sounds like another question to put into the FAQ.

Don't want to be pedantic, but based on Yepesnopes requirement its

(Swords) 2 becomes:

(Swords) 2 and
Longsword 3

King's Men works for both Sword and Longsword, I think. So it's just a matter of which one you want to select... right?

Yes but Yepesnopes' was asking about increasing longsword so I was just being clear as to what the stat sheet would look like in the example he asked about - ie, if you were increasing your skill in longsword you'd write:

(Swords) 2
Longsword 3

Not

(Swords) 2
Sword 3
