Tolwen is sort of like a fairy godfather...you don't have to actually email questions to him; you can just post them here and POOF he will appear with answers within a few hours, even if he hasn't posted anything for months. Somehow he just knows.

Once I was sitting on my sofa at home, just thinking "Which were the names of Haldir's brothers?",when all of a sudden The Fellowship of the Ring book felled from the library, and laid open on the floor by the chapter "Lothlórien". And I swear I heard someone with a german accent saying "Cheers!" outside of my window.

True story.

The "cheers" is always accompanied by the ringing of tiny, perfect bells, too.

"OM" stands for Other Minds, an international journal for gaming in Middle-earth. Just follow the link in my signature. Then go to the "Downloads" section and there you are
The article I spoke about is in Issue 14, but you may find the other ones (current one is 15) and our predecessor magazine from the '90s (Other Hands; downloadable at the OM site as well) useful too ;)
Happy reading, and if you have any questions - just ask :)

Cheers
Tolwen

Well Glorelendil & Falenthal, I'm flattered by your kind words!

*bows low* Always at your service and may your next Tolkien-related idea never be far away :)

Oh wait - do I hear a Tolkien and Middle-earth game afficionado in need of assistance Far Far Away? Gotta hurry ;)

Cheers

Hahaha this is gold :D
Of Finarfin's children I am the last. But my heart is still proud. What wrong did the golden house of Finarfin do that I should ask the pardon of the Valar, or be content with an isle in the sea whose native land was Aman the Blessed? Here I am mightier.

Perhaps some useful stuff here...

PDF'd this for someone a while back: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/795 ... ntains.pdf

And there was this post made by LOTR_Nerd some time ago:
Orc Tribes

• Uruk-ghâshoth (Fire Orcs)—Carn Dûm (Red Fortress—Leaping tongue of flame)
• Uruk-ongrum (Skull Orcs)—Mount Gundabad (The pale Iron Skull)
• Uruk-bagronk (Creeping Doom)—Mount Gundabad (A dagger dripping blood)
• Uruk-burzum (Darkness-bringers)—Moria (The Black Chasm—Two crossed red scimitars)
• Uruk-gurhoth (Death Orcs)—Moria (The Black Chasm—A purple bat)
• Uruk-durbatulûk (Orcs of the Serpent)—Cirith Forn en Andrath (The High-climbing Pass of the North—A great Black Adder upon plum)
• Uruk-ngaurhoth (Wolfin)—Mount Gram (A lurid green ravening wolf’s maw)

• Uruk-Guniga (Orcs of Rage)—Gorgoroth (Plateau of Terror—The Red Eye upon a field of night, which they still wear out of reverent fear of the Dark Lord)
• Uruk-Gor (Orcs of Dread)—Mirkwood (Red snake entwined within a skull)
• Scara-hai (Orcs of the Green Claw)—Durthang (Dark Oppression—Green Claw)
• Uruk-Strigurth (Orcs of Creeping Death)—Imlad Morgul (the Vale of Sorcery—Bloody knife on a field of deadly nightshade)
• Uruk-Burzrik (Orcs of the Black Ash)—Seregost (Tower of Blood) and Nargroth (Fire Caves—Mount Doom erupting)

Dwarves are not going to like orcs which inhabit or took over Dwarf holds which would include Orcs from:

Gundabad the mountain where Durin the Deathless awoke, now a stronghold of the orcs, dwarves have a special hatred of the orcs from here.

Moria-Obvious why dwarves would hate orcs from Khazad-Dum

Grey Mountains-Parts of these mountains hold orcs as well as dragons/drakes which still dwell there

Elves and the Woodsmen of Wilderland:

Any Orc from Dol Guldur for the elves and that plus orcs from goblintown for the woodsmen

Beornings

Any Orc from the Misty Mountains

Hobbits

Orcs from Mount Gram(in case you have a player who wants to play a hobbit slayer)

Rangers and Elves of Rivendell

Pretty much any of the above more attention paid to angmar and mount gram orcs as well as orcs in the misty mountains

You've added some great points as usual Rich. BTW, I really enjoyed this pdf when you guys first posted it and enjoyed reading it again. You all did a superb job on this and I hope to be able to use some of these for Orcs as villains in my game, rather than as playable characters.

I want to comment, however, that I was the one who originally posted these Orc tribes and you, LOTR_Nerd, etc., subsequently tweaked 'em. Not a problem because we do this to help each other out, but just wanted to mention it ;)

Sorry about that, then, I was copy/pasting it from an old word doc so only had LOTR_Nerd's post!
