TOR at Furnace, Sheffield UK

Post by evilgaz » Wed Oct 16, 2013 11:58 am

Greetings

This Sunday (20/10/13) I'll be running a TOR adventure at Furnace games con aimed at giving people a chance to get a flavour of the game and so its suitable for beginners or the curious - and as I'm putting together my own scenario, old hands will probably get something out of it too!

Winter has broken and its time for the Woodmen to open their villages once more and embrace spring and the bounty it brings. The council of Elders is aflutter though, as young men have gone to re-establish contact with neighbours and none have returned. Perhaps the adventurers who stopped over the cold period will help – but are they to be trusted? What man (or Elf or any other creature) would go adventuring of all things when there’s a nice, safe life to be had within the stockade? Perhaps they’re not the sort of people you’d want looking for your loved ones – but if not them, then who?

Cheers!

Gaz

Looks good Gaz; would be interested in reading a write-up of it after you've run it.

Good luck.

The game went well - don't really want to spoilerise it on the forums as I may run it at more conventions, but in three hours we packed in at least two encounters, three journeys (all hazards were avoided unfortunately), and three fights. I stuck pretty much to using the mini systems to give people a flavour of the game, with more time we could have done some more roleplaying, but it was a three hour slot.

Used the characters from the pdf, but realised they don't have weapon stats printed on which was a bit disappointing - especially as I didn't take the rulebooks with me. Convinced one of the players to buy the game though, so we worked it out in the end! ;)

I'd definitely recommend halving Hope scores for the characters as this got people worried about Shadow and stopped them rampaging through everything burning Hope willy nilly.
