WARNING! -SPOILERS ABOUT DARKENING OF MIRKWOOD CAMPAIGN-
My DoM campaign is putting the Fellowship of the Hunters in collision with Tyulqin and Tauler. Maybe they'll manage to avoid a clash of arms, maybe not.
I'm thinking about "buffing" these two great opponents with the Powerful Adversaries rules found in Rivendell.
Someone already did the same in their own campaign?
Someone got suggestions?
I'm mulling about Deadly Elusiveness or Wicked Cunning for Tyulqin, and about Tauler... Cruel Stroke?
DoM Spoilers: "buffing" the major opponents

Great Might is an exceptional power for making enemies having more sticking power.

True. But I used that ability on the Steward of Carn-Dum, so I don't want to use it again (for some time at least).zedturtle wrote:Great Might is an exceptional power for making enemies having more sticking power.

I didn't boost them at all, but they were still quite tough. Tyulqin especially has lots of powerful abilities.
Adventure Summaries for my long-running group (currently playing through The Darkening of Mirkwood/Mirkwood Campaign), and the Tale of Years for a second, lower-level group (in the same campaign).

The section in Rivendell is invaluable to LMs for adding variation and greater challenge for their respective campaigns.
I'd personally go with what fits your own group of players/PCs rather than taking advice from anyone else. Recall what they have found challenging in the past, or more accurately why they have breezed through some opponents. And based on this input pick the adversary abilities that work best for the specific set of strengths and weaknesses.Corvo wrote:Someone got suggestions?

Sure. But LMing is a solitary job half of the time (ie during the creation part), so I was willing to engage in some talkingRich H wrote:The section in Rivendell is invaluable to LMs for adding variation and greater challenge for their respective campaigns.

I think you are right. Tyulqin in particular should be played as an insidious opponent, and she already got the tools for this job.Majestic wrote:I didn't boost them at all, but they were still quite tough. Tyulqin especially has lots of powerful abilities.
Tauler is an ambush predator, too, but his tools are more direct.
I think I would give him some bonus: the Fellowship got two legendary weapons that are bane to the spiders, instruments of war that weren't available when Tauler was statted.
