I read Journeys and Maps last night and thought it was excellent. I particularly liked the natural wonders and ruins sections. LMs should definitely check out the "Sinkhole Lake" rules (page 22).

Of course we won't print the LMs maps of location X on the reverse of the players map of location X. Don't forget this is a system of rpg travel and map use that that we designed in the first place. We got this.

The printed maps will be the same size as the ones that appeared in the slip case, so four times 8.5x11 inches. (22 inches wide, 15 inches high on nice thick paper stock) They are scale-compatible with those original maps.

They will be supplied folded. Tubes have been mentioned a couple of times in the past - tubed maps simply aren't a saleable, practical or attractive option for games stores.

There are some very small, featureless gaps in the composite. Francesco, Paul and myself wrestled that bear really hard to try and have no gaps at all, but in the end, skipping a couple of tiny sections that have absolutely no features in them whatsoever was (of course) preferable to cutting off significant locations.

Never doubted that for a second, although I was prepared to buy two copies if it was the case!

I may be in the minority, but I'm not a fan of tubed maps as I find them difficult to store so folded is alright by me.

Another supplement packed with useful information. You guys obviously use your time-lordy dimensional-space manipulation skills you've picked up on the Doctor Who rpg for TOR as well in order to fit in so much cool stuff.

Just a quick question regarding the maps... When I view them some of the text is displaying white (generally sites, towns, villages), will this be the same colour on the printed maps as well or is it a characteristic of the viewer I'm using?

I've been re-reading The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings this week and it's been fascinating really paying attention to all the misadventures on the many journeys. I love how well the system reflects this. As the saying goes "half the fun's getting there". Again this new supplement is just fantastic and evocative. I genuinely think I could randomly generate a great adventure without any preparation.

What's the resolution of the maps like? Good enough to take to a large-format digital printshop and have them printed on, say, A2 or even A1 canvas or vinyl? Or is it screen/A4 print quality?

Well I guess that they are good enough to print at full size 17x22 but the dpi doesn't appear in my Windows based pdf reader. I think that C7 would send tiff or similar files to their printer though for best results though.

I've taken previous files to a printer to get them printed and encapsulated at about 17x22.

As it happens, I was showing the PDF to a friend last night, and he commented on the very same thing. And I pulled out my LOTR and read the very same passage to him!

Also: http://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Wetwang says that an archaic meaning of "wang" is a field or flat area.

Anyway, the book and maps look really good. I would have preferred to have the coast of Lindon fully depicted, especially since we now have rules for sea travel! But it's not really a big deal, and I love having those rules and the ones for ruins -- the latter may well be used in my very next session...
