[Help] A Figure for Raenar?

Post by Rich H » Mon Jul 11, 2016 10:44 am

Hi All,

Need a bit of help in sourcing a nice miniature for the dragon Raenar who appear in the final adventure "The Watch on the Heath" from TfW. Here's a description of the brute:
Raenar is a terrifying sight, a vast silver-grey serpent, wingless, with a huge head set upon a thick neck.
He advances walking on four short and robust legs, sometimes slithering on his slime-covered belly. From his beak-like muzzle and powerful, saw-toothed jaw emerge wisps of venomous cold vapours. Even reduced in size by centuries of slumber, Raenar is one of the greatest calamities that might befall the North, should his wrath be unleashed upon it.
Can anyone recommend a miniature that would fit the above description?

I think the most important element if that it is wingless, but I'm struggling to find a decent dragon without such aerial appendages! I can paint the figure myself so no issues there. I'm thinking I'm going to have to resort to buying a winged dragon miniature and rather that fixing the wings instead I'll need to use some modelling green to cover the areas where the wings should be attached to create a wingless dragon.

Links to websites where recommended figures are for sale would be really useful. My budget is up to £50.

Thanks!

I am in the process of painting up this Forge World Basilisk for when my group gets to the Watch on the Heath (they've just started Those Who No Longer Tarry, so I've got a while to go - but I am a slow painter).

I saw someone post a picture of this awesome wingless dragon in the miniatures thread but it looks to have been a KS exclusive, as I can't find it for love nor money!

I really like that one, very alien-looking. I'm reminded also of the Skeksis from the Dark Crystal when looking at its features; which is a good thing! :) You'll have to take a few pics of it to share with us all when you've finished it.

Damn. That one is perfect.

Found and ordered: http://www.warploqueminiatures.com/#!pr ... ire-dragon

Too bloomin' awesome to resist. Although I will no doubt balls up the painting of it. :(

Did you remove the extra limbs on your basilisk?

One might also look for Chinese Dragon figures to represent the Long-worms.

Oh, very nice! That could be old Scatha himself (herself?)!

No, I am perfectly content with Raenar having six limbs.

Those wings had to go/come from somewhere? Or just want the extra attacks?
Jacob Rodgers, occasional nitwit.
