I'm a player in one (hopefully, soon to be two) of Zed's pbp TOR games, and I am enjoying myself immensely. However, I have been giving some thought to what it would be like to play in the early Fourth Age, after the Return of The King. Have any of you tried running campaigns in the Fourth Age, and if so what are your thoughts?
Thanks!

Re: Who is using TOR to play in the Fourth Age?
Years ago I began what became a very brief MERP campaign set in the Fourth Age. My players decided that the combat system was too brutal and returned to our regular AD&D game. If it had continued, though, my long-term goals included a possible expedition to Forochel to attempt to reclaim one or both of the lost palantíri there, and a mission to search the ruins of Dol Guldur--and possibly a similar mission to Barad-dûr. Another adventure hook would have involved securing the site of Tharbad prior to its restoration.

I have an old MERP campaign, The Palantir Quest, which is a pretty entertaining series of adventures taking the characters from Gondor and into the far north:
Easy to Google for more information on it, should you feel the need: http://tolkiengateway.net/wiki/Palant%C3%ADr_Quest provide some ideas and the following http://www.flashingblades.co.uk/Palantir/index.htm is a campaign using the above adventure as inspiration.
I'm sure I have a load of scenarios for the 4th Age but have no idea where they are archived. They involved supporting the new King and reuniting the North with Gondor.

I've never seen that, though the idea for it was suggested in an earlier (MERP 1e) Rangers of the North supplement. Actually, the MERP books have a lot of suggestions for Fourth Age adventures despite the default setting that is in the middle of the Third Age.Rich H wrote:I have an old MERP campaign, The Palantir Quest, which is a pretty entertaining series of adventures taking the characters from Gondor and into the far north:
