Of course I did that illustration. There was no way I could not.Falenthal wrote:What I REALLY want to see if there's an illustration regarding dual-wielding made by Mr. Hodgson.Jon Hodgson wrote:It certainly broke me. I swear he did it just to massively vex me up.
And, if there's one, a "making of" video of Jon's face while drawing it...

Okay, I'm a bit confused... I feel like I'm missing out on some kind of popular meme here:Blubbo Baggins wrote:They did it. Dual wielding.
I think the forum is going to break.
What's with all the excitement in this thread regarding dual wielding? Is there some kind of LotR-based precedent that wasn't addressed by the TOR core rules?
Re: Adventurer's Companion news
Dual wielding has been discussed since TOR was first released. As the rules stand now, it is impossible for characters to wield one weapon in each hand. It is not very "historical" or practical, some would argue.
But other would argue that it looks cool.
As for me, I don't like it when rpgs say "No, you can't do that. The rules don't allow it.". I would rather have rpgs say "Yes, you can do that, but it is difficult."
I'm very happy to see dual wielding, among other new stuff, make their appearance in the Adventurer's Companion.

Ninja'd! But I'll post anyway.
So called "dual-wielding" has historically been a hotly debated topic on these forums.
Two weapon fighting wasn't included in TOR, a decision which has historically been presented in a wide variety of flame-inducing tones, pretty much in every imaginable direction. A deep and worthy study of history and fantasy have both been deployed in a variety of unpleasant ways to make people who hold an opposing view on whether it should be in the game, feel unhappy.
Back when I was able to be here a lot more often, I have made a joke of how much I dislike so called "dual wielding".
Like Balrog wings, it's just... one of those topics.

You're a brave man, Mr. Hodgson, and you have my admiration (once again), for taking that responsability upon your shoulders.Jon Hodgson wrote:Of course I did that illustration. ...now I'm wondering if you choosed an elf or a hobbit to dual-wield in your illustration.
First thing I'll look up in the PDF once it's out!
Re: Adventurer's Companion news
I have no strong feelings about dual wielding, but I'm happy it is in the rules now.
But that goes for every new option and rules you could add. Loremasters can just pick and choose what they want in their campaigns.
Now, bring in rules for helmet spikes and head butting, please!

Ha ha
That is so cool! Well played c7!
Anyone looked at how it works? Combat option in forward stance?

Re: Adventurer's Companion news
I would be very happy to hear how it works. I know we'll have to wait until the end of November with the PDF, but how about a small teaser or preview us TOR fans?

It's difficult and you have to be skilled to make it worth it.Ferretz wrote:I would be very happy to hear how it works. I know we'll have to wait until the end of November with the PDF, but how about a small teaser or preview us TOR fans?

There have been LOTS of approaches by many of us on this forum; and considering the official ruling is iminent I'm looking forward to seeing what C7 go with.Arkat wrote:Anyone looked at how it works? Combat option in forward stance?
