Rivendell
Re: Rivendell
While I totally agree with the quality comment, there is a limit. The Darkening of Mirkwood is supposed to be set 5 years after the default setting start time of the core set and we are already 3 years up in RT. If we slip anymore toward a 1:1 ratio between game time and RT the War of the Rings Supplements will be out in time for our grand kids to play. Sorry, don't mean to be snide, but game lines have been killed for less reasons then this in the past.

Beran, if you are based in the US then, as I said above, it's your fault for the delays
The material is mostly written, except for IP/canon related changes and it's the lawyers holding things up. Don't you think C7 would like your money?

Re: Rivendell
But the whole point is the line is good enough quality to continue - and Cubicle 7 cant do anything to speed the process along... I hope people don't permanently abandon ship because of the limit.
And while new things are very nice, the setting is rich enough, even from the core books, to run without expansions, so it's not to bad... I'm looking forward to running some long lasting campaigns, and when we have finished we will be able to take a break, then move onto the other regions of Middle Earth - this is my hope anyway! <spend's point of hope>
Hermes, LOL again!

Re: Rivendell
I agree with this. Just because there is new books aren't published doesn't mean a game can't continue. The basic rules are there, and they are all we need. They will work for whatever we create for ourselves if no new books come out. this game could still go on for years, with no new material
Re: Rivendell
Yeah, count me among those that would love to see new books *but* can run the game perfectly okay without them. At the end of the day, an RPG doesn't have to have a treadmill of supplements produced for it. I'd rather have one or two supplements of high quality than be saturated with too many.

Re: Rivendell
Another point that no one has considered is that after the law suit between MeE and Tolkien Estates,Cubicle 7 might be going to both now for approval just in case.
Re: Rivendell
Not saying that the game can't continue. Just that other games have faltered because of problems with release schedules... And I want my Rohan, damn it!
Re: Rivendell
Most of us on these Forums love ToR and want them to continue publishing it. I support the company and this line, and will purchase their beautiful work as long as they want my money
We understand that they deal with legal restrictions, and that as a growing company they may not have the resources to produce the way I.C.E. did with MERP, let alone D&D. I'm guessing that's never been their objective, however, since Middle-earth is a specific niche, and doesn't appeal to all fantasy gamers.
Most of us also seem to agree that we prefer that they maintain their high standards of quality over quantity.
That said, however, I can only hope that they produce more in this line - and more regularly - if possible.
I don't believe I'm alone when I say that I love developing my long-term game, but don't have the time to write enough adventures for more than a few sessions. This has nothing to do with my creative thinking (I write for a living), but concerns time management. Simply put, I pay their writers and artists to provide me with challenging adventures. They've done a superb job so far, but any game requires regular infusions

Re: Rivendell
And IIRC, they lost their MERP and LotR Adventure Games and MIddle-Earth Quest due to a combination of Bankruptcy and Copyright issues. I'm still very sad they never published their North Gondor sourcebooks (Land of ... and People of ...)Mim wrote:

So I dont mind waiting if it means we can enjoy TOR longer
