I find that boring when the circumstances are different. I'd agree if they were both weapons doing the same thing but they aren't so I like the different mechanics that the RAW has.

I don't see room for discussion here. If the authors had ment the ability to take effect in the current round, they would not have written following round. Rich H. has shown how the mechanical implementation of the weapon ability goes hand in hand with a plausible narrative depiction.

(OT: In the Pathfinder RPG there are things that begin at your turn in the round and are finished exactly at the moment before your turn comes up in the next round - in the worm axe case they would probably use sth. like this effect lasts for one round.)
