Earendil's lookout shouted down from the mast, "Corsair bearing down on us, prepared for battle!"

"Fetch my red tunic," the captain said to his steward.

"Why a red shirt?" asked the cabin boy.

"In case I am wounded in battle. I would not want my men to see and lose heart."

"A score more Corsair ships!" cried the lookout. "It's an ambush!"

"Fetch my brown pants!" commanded Earendil.
As was saying Robert Charles Surcouf to an english mariner who's said to him "We, English Mariner, are battling for fame" , "I'm battling for money: whe are always eager for we have less".
Nothing of Worth.

First time poster.

I was originally excited for more sourcebooks covering Middle Earth. Being only familiar with the films originally, I was unsure of how player characters could play through The War of the Ring and feel something just as epic as the events that the characters of The Lord of the Rings goes through. After doing research in preparation of running the game, I discovered the War in the North during the same time frame.

Now I am only excited about Mirkwood and Eriador books. For me, since there isn't much Tolkien material clarifying what happens during the time frame of the Lord of the Rings, the vacuum left by major players marching south towards the climax of the war leaves plenty of room for players to fill in. So for me, when the War of the Ring happens, I am hoping for a campaign book that concentrates solely on the North.

A Moria sourcebook/campaign would be welcome, though as someone already mentioned, a Greydelve book would also be intriguing.

I would also hope there is a campaign book between The Darkening of Mirkwood and The War in the North, making it a sort of trilogy of its own.

I'd still be interested in a Gondor book, but everything set around Mirkwood is a must.

I think a lot more could also be done in Wilderland. DoM focuses very much on the Woodmen, but you also have the development of the Beornings, and reconstruction of Dale. Each of these could easily be its own campaign.

From lotr.wikia.com:

"In TA 3019, Beregond recounted to Pippin how Gondor recaptured East Osgiliath a few decades before the War of the Ring ("...in the days of the youth of Denethor..."), for use as a military outpost and to secure a crossing of the Anduin"

How about this for DoM-style campaign?

Would be great in conjunction with rules for larger engagements. So that it's a series of skirmishes and battles.

More seriously, C7 had been conspicuously silent about their projects after Errantries of the King [Edit: I was meaning Oaths of the Riddermark]
This, combined with TS ominous words, make me think about Moria sourcebook (we got hints about that) or a Gondor at War book (Gondor is obviously the missing piece of the puzzle, but we need a strong theme for that setting)

The new Calling wasn't changed to Leader from the original Captain on a whim. There's a reason for that and it's because they'll be using that elsewhere... In Mass Combat rules. At least that's where I'd put my dosh if I was a betting man.

After so much dwarf related material it would make sense.

I wonder if Oaths of the Riddermark might include stuff that was originally penned for Errantries of the King? After all, Aragorn was masquerading as Thorongil in Rohan for part of his errantries.

A future adventure book for Gondor might include his time under the Steward of Gondor. American style frontier yarns in Ithilien among the Rangers and singeing the King of Spain's beard in Umbar.

A campaign, or at least a book of loosely related adventures for Dale and Erebor must definitely be on the cards.

Underground rules for Menzoberrazan and flying mounts for use with a Dragonlance.

Or whatever C7 gives us.
