Speculation: After Erebor?

Post by Otaku-sempai » Fri Nov 04, 2016 9:24 pm

Okay, so Oaths of the Riddermark is the only announced TOR supplement that still isn't at least up for pre-order. What are we likely to see immediately following that? A Gondor sourcebook seems to be a certainty, with an adventure anthology to follow (bringing the timeline up to the year 2980 or later?). Perhaps the former could include a bit about Umbar.

Would be get another hardcover book to cover Lothlórien? Might Moria and Lórien be covered in a single volume? What about Western Eriador and Lindon? Another hardcover? After all, it could include The Shire, the Halls of the Dwarves (and other Dwarf-colonies of the Blue Mountains) and the Grey Havens. And a map of Bree that includes the layout of The Prancing Pony would also be welcome.

We've seen by now that C7 works in parallel in different supplements, and probably even they don't know exactly which one will be finished, approved by the whole team (or whoever has to do that) and approved also by the MEe (or whoever holds the rights) first.

As we saw with Erebor, it was an unannounced supplement that we got by total surprise even before other long announced ones (AC and Oaths of the Riddermark).

So probably many of the areas you're mentioning are being written, revised, rewritten, etc already. Which one will come first? Only time will tell.

But an Hollin-Moria-Lórien book, that can be used with East Eriador, Rhovanion and Rohan would be my wish.
And more adventures.

I think I recall a sourcebook pretty much dedicated to the Shire was hinted at way back (though it'll probably cover Western Eriador). A Moria sourcebook or possibly campaign book has been hinted at more than a few times as well, I expect it would cover Lothlorien and possibly Eregion with a little more detail.

Those aside I expect, based on Journeys and Maps, there will be a Gondor book that covers all around the White Mountains and a Mordor book that covers regions of the Enemy (Harad and Rhun). Finally I think we'll get at least one more adventure anthology set around Gondor and probably another campaign book or two before we actually hit Lord of the Rings, possibly a big sourcebook or campaign covering the War of the Ring all over Middle-Earth.

Yes, now I recall the hints of Moria. Including nearby Lórien might make more sense than a separate book for it.

If we see a sourcebook primarily dedicated to The Shire (and probably Bree) then I expect it might be a 32-page softcover similar to Lake-town. A hard-back should be far more comprehensive.

A Western Eriador sourcebook would be nice, since it would contain the civilized parts of Eriador, and also some rather interesting places like Annuminas, maybe even Forochel. It would have a distinct flavor to it.

I don't know what's on the way but I was chatting via email to TS a few weeks ago and he said, with regards to what they have planned and when we find out, we'll "... shit ourselves with excitement..." or words to that affect. I'm constantly carrying around a spare pair of pants, now, just in case.

I am expecting a Shire book covering Western Eriador, and a Moria book covering Lothlorien.

I am expecting the Minas Tirith book to come toward the end of the region books.

I am hoping we get an Errantries of the King campaign book, doing a 'Darkening of Mirkwood' for Eriador in the time period following DoM.

Earendil's lookout shouted down from the mast, "Corsair bearing down on us, prepared for battle!"

"Fetch my red tunic," the captain said to his steward.

"Why a red shirt?" asked the cabin boy.

"In case I am wounded in battle. I would not want my men to see and lose heart."

"A score more Corsair ships!" cried the lookout. "It's an ambush!"

"Fetch my brown pants!" commanded Earendil.

I would also be partial to more DoM-style Campaign books - covering the War of the Ring and the Hunt for Gollum, for example.
