Tell him it's Dragon-sickness! Very serious stuff. It's all the Smaug in the air, cold as a Morgul-blade out there!

...while Balin’s folk seek to reclaim their ancient halls.
The Dwarves will not permit the company to engage in
the taking of Moria (indeed, that is a tale for another
supplement
…), as they view this as a duty that falls to
them alone.

Do you have a favorite part of the book, Jon? Or one thing you have been especially waiting to see the fans react to? A favorite of the new Cultures?
Fave bits:
• Hiring Naomi, as our latest TOR artist. I think she's really good. She did the images on pages 130 and 137.

• The Bree culture really makes me want to play. I think there's a lot of interest in playing someone from Bree out on the road. They have enough of that anachronistic modernity that Hobbits have, without running the risk being "cute"

• The write up of Men of Minas Tirith. The folks involved really committed to that piece of text, under heavy pressure for such a short piece. In those little write ups you don't get much time to expand on a theme, so every sentence really matters. James put some lovely imagery in there, and Andrew polished it most effectively.

• Things I did personally - Elrond on pg 129 has been in my head for a long time, and getting to do some writing was pretty cool.

• I think Masteries are very cool.

Actually, I think there's a ton of great stuff in there.

Hate two weapon fighting though. Who's idea even was that? ;)

Elrond was always one of my favorites, so cool. I'm glad you enjoyed it, and it sounds like everyone involved did some great work!

Does it have more wood elf magic precious??
Of Finarfin's children I am the last. But my heart is still proud. What wrong did the golden house of Finarfin do that I should ask the pardon of the Valar, or be content with an isle in the sea whose native land was Aman the Blessed? Here I am mightier.

I second this as one of the best illustrations ever.

I just opened the forum to post exactly the same. Although this is not the place or time to talk about it, I must admit that I rarely love any other art in the TOR books that is not Jon's (not the time, nor the place...). But this one, I like a lot because of everything it transpires, and the chapter it is in.
