So I recently had a minor conundrum. When characters retire, they get bonus XP for the new character. I always interpreted that as Previous Experience from character creation. But one of my players interpreted it as actual Experience, with a capital E. I never though of it that way, but looking at it again I can see it being defined that way. Difference being would a new character have higher Wisdom and Valor with starting Common Skills vs. Higher Skills with starting Wisdom and Valor.
I'm LM, so what I say goes. But I was wondering how others have interpreted this. Or if there is a clarified ruling that I cannot find. Curious to read responses.
Retirement Experience
Re: Retirement Experience
Yeah it counts as previous experience, it cannot be used to increase starting Wisdom or Valour. Can't remember if I've seen a post clarifying this before.

Re: Retirement Experience
Actually I just re-read it and I can see your point. I'm sure it is supposed to count as previous experience but I'll go double check and get back to you.

I can't find if there was any confirmation but that's certainly the consensus view here and I'm pretty sure the correct one.Cleggster wrote:I always interpreted that as Previous Experience from character creation.

Re: Retirement Experience
Yeah, I remember bringing it up, but it seems that James has an inside channel (especially going to DM, wish I could afford to do do). In any case, I lean toward previous experience as being the intended meaning but think that it's purposefully vague so that others may do it differently.

Re: Retirement Experience
Yeah, that's how I am going with it. Only came up since I have a few people retiring after dealing with a Cold Drake.I can't find if there was any confirmation but that's certainly the consensus view here and I'm pretty sure the correct one.
