Any word on when new cultures will be released?
Any word on when new cultures will be released?
I haven't been paying too much attention to TOR lately. I know originally there were suppose to be new core sets for stuff like Rohan, Gondor, etc.
Just curious what the current plan is.

There's one in the Laketown supplement (Men of the Lake). Some additional ones within The Heart of the Wild (Wild Hobbits, Mountain-Men, and Wayward Elves) and more coming in the Rivendell supplement as far as the rumours would suggest (maybe some Elves and Dunedain).

Check out Rich H TOR Resources. He has an unofficial write ups for the Ranger of the North and Men of Dorwinnion Cultures.

Nothing has been shown past the Rivendell book for AGES. Is there going to be a Gondor or Rohan book?

I sure hope so. Rohan is overall my favourite part of Tolkien.qstor wrote:Nothing has been shown past the Rivendell book for AGES. Is there going to be a Gondor or Rohan book?

However Rohan and Gondor is too much to the South of the Generally covered area.
Lorien Elves are kind of Borderline but could be fun, Easterling too. And Dwarves of the Grey mountain could also be a fun one too.

Dwarves of the Iron Hills, while they're at it. Dain didn't take EVERYONE to Erebor...
And yeah, Lorien and Rivendell elves are both needed.
Or even divide them up by race. Noldor, Sindar, Silvan.
Or by race and location. Noldor/Rivendell, Noldor/Lorien, Sindar/Mirkwood, Sindar/Rivendell, Sindar/Lorien, and then Silvan Elves/Mirkwood (this is the existing elvish race, I think, except noble blood background, which should be Sindar...), Silvan Elves/Rivendell, Silvan Elves/Lorien.
Sadly, all the Vanyar are in Valinor and they are NOT coming out ever.

I'd say that Lorien elves are not necessary: they don't leave their land. During The Lord of the Rings, Legolas himself didn't know anything about Lorien; of the Company, only Aragorn and Gandalf, who had both been there, did.
Rivendell elves are, on the other hand, very necessary. They are a mix of Noldor and Sindar. They may not be sufficiently different from elves of the Havens and elves of the Wandering Companies to warrant separate treatment in the game; "Elves of Eriador" might work as a single culture.
Other Eriador-based cultures besides hobbits would be Dwarves of the Blue Mountains and Men of Bree. I don't think Bree hobbits are sufficiently different from Shire hobbits for distinct game mechanics.

Well, Mirkwood elves don't technically leave their land either. A PC elf would be one of those rare elves that does. Legolas is a very odd duck for leaving Mirkwood like he does. So there's a place for Lorien elves. Any number of strange things could happen, such as Lorien elves sending embassy to Thranduil, etc.
