Upcoming releases.
Re: Upcoming releases.
... Personally, I'm happy with them just focussing on WIlderland. I think there's enough, still uncovered, content in and around Mirkwood without needing to expand beyond it. I get Rivendell and why that is being released but I'd still like the focus to be on the areas in and around Wilderland - it's not been an oft covered area in previous RPGs so I'd like to see more on it.
Erebor
Dale and the Dalelands
The Iron Hills
The Grey Mountains
Moria
... etc.

Re: Upcoming releases.
True, there is still a lot of territory to cover in the Wilderlands, but with not very much officially going on until the WorR. As well I am sure there are other players, like myself, who favour other areas (like Rohan which is my favourite region of ME.)Rich H wrote:... ME is such a rich back drop for an rpg I don't really see how they can concentrate on only one area. What I am waiting for is to see C7 add in a few details of how the North fared in the WotR (ie events like the Battle of Dale.) Though as it isn't specifically covered in the Hobbit or LotRs that probably won't occur.
Re: Upcoming releases.
Not just Moria but also the other settlement in the Misty Mountains Goblin's Gate, Eagle's Eyrie, Mount Gundabad and Angmar...most of which are relevant for the Hobbit/The One Ring setting.Rich H wrote: Moria

Re: Upcoming releases.
I finished Heart of the wild yesterday - it was really good; it makes me want to see more source material for wilderland also. although when that is done I would be really happy with opening up the world to other areas - it would make for whole new campaigns I feel...Rich H wrote: Erebor

but yes, we have enough to go on

Re: Upcoming releases.
Since we're all speculating about the future of the game & throwing in our wish lists, I believe these are very marketable for them & within their license in terms of The Hobbit & LOTR...
1. They can easily supplement Rivendell (TBC) & add two books similar to THoW & The Darkening of Mirkwood: They can cover northern Eriador toward Carn Dûm. If they get a great response, they can also add a book like TfW.
2. Moria is (hopefully) a given & deserves a book. This covers both sides of the Mountains & enables people to connect our adventures with Wilderland.
3. Saruman & Isengard: Again, the two books idea - THoW & The Darkening of Mirkwood - which can include the Rohirrim as a culture.
4. Northern Mordor & Gondor: Despite the dim chances of survival (even with the revised Blighted Lands rules
), they can develop Gorgoroth & Udûn, along with Minas Tirith & Ithilien. This brings in Gondorians as a culture; all of which means at least two or three books.
5. The Corsairs of Umbar: Where else can we have a city infested with pirates, assassins, Black Númenóreans, or however they decide to interpret it? Whoa...

Re: Upcoming releases.
I think the slow release of new product hurts the game. At minimum it doesn't help it. I know nothing of licenses, but the rate of return by either party considering the amount of material released must be on the verge of zero. Or at least to be worth so little why bother...again not to be critical but at 1 release (or so) a year on average it just cannot be worth it.
Re: Upcoming releases.
Although i consider that one game product in year is really not optimal, it is far from "not worth it" since many of us have a hell of time when we play the game. I am sure that most of us really wanted more products and I believe that Cubicle 7 wanted to give us more. But since the delays probably have not do with Cubicle 7 then there aren't many things to do than to wait and play from the sources we have.

Re: Upcoming releases.
In terms of release schedules I think with volume three of Peter Jackson's Hobbit film completed and set for release next year I guess that most of the merchandising review has been completed (anyone wanting to sell Hobbit merchandise has got to have sought approval by now). This means that the eyes of those lawyers at M-e E can be focussed on non movie related material and we may see a faster turnaround for RPG material from the licencing people.
With the possibility of faster review C7 must be thinking of getting more material in the pipeline to ensure a flow of TOR material to the printer for 2014 and 2015. This bodes well for the game and gives the fans something to look forward to that is more tangible than existing plans which have turned out to be a little nebulous.

Re: Upcoming releases.
You could be right. The above could certainly explain why Decipher was able to get what it did out for LotR RPG in the short period of time it was produced. That being it was released about a year before the last movie in the LotRs trilogy.Hermes Serpent wrote:In terms of release schedules I think with volume three of Peter Jackson's Hobbit film completed and set for release next year I guess that most of the merchandising review has been completed (anyone wanting to sell Hobbit merchandise has got to have sought approval by now).
