Adventures in Order

Post by Willis » Wed Apr 19, 2017 10:55 pm

So I've lost all my links in a computer wipe. Can someone link me to the page that has the official adventures in order?

Thanks!

I can't find the thread where this was talked about, but here's a link to a chronology someone made long ago:

In case you don't know it, Words of the Wise was an adventure used in many cons to show The One Ring. At one time it was available openly, but now it is no more (AFAIK). The rest are the up to now published adventures from the Core Book, Tales from Wilderland and the link to the Darkening Campaign.

I wonder if Words of the Wise should be excluded since it was evidently a convention scenario and it talks about the characters being sent to watch Dol Goldur. Wonder if it would fit into the adventures without feeling forced.

I plan on running it after Sauron has declared in Mordor. After reading it I always felt it was odd to position it earlier given the forces involved and the overt nature of the events. I also think LMs could include some interesting dynamics with Tyrant's Hill if set later and you could introduce the Watch of Dol Guldur in an earlier year - eg, I did this on the eve of Sauron's declaration.

That was my chart, I've been meaning to update, hopefully I'll get chance at some point.
I was working on adding the Darkening stuff to it, not sure how far I got into that, I'll have a look.

I realise you're probably not saying this with the above but I don't really think its the intent of Darkening of Mirkwood for a fellowship to play through every adventure in every year; such a commitment would mean the characters flitting around Wilderland quite a lot and would feel a bit false and forced. I know as I've been running the campaign of dropped adventures completely, cribbed ideas from them, moved them to other locations, placed them in another year, and/or used them as news/events that the PCs hear about.

I've been following Timb's chart for our groups adventures, it's worked quite well. So far we've completed The Marsh Bell, Don't Leave the Path, The Wizard's Man and Words of the Wise. We did that over the course of about eight months with fortnightly gaming sessions.

Some feedback for the game designers, all of my players are new to TOR and they love it.

Cheers,
Kurt

Aye, there is no way you can physically play everything year by year without dropping something. I'll see as I work more on it, how to approach the issues.
The following is where I got up to when I had to drop the project for a while, may see if I can set some time aside to continue on it soon.

Key
GC: GenCon adventure
TDOM: The Darkening of Mirkwood
TFW: Tales from the Wilderland
TORLB: The One Ring Loremaster’s Book
