Maybe it's worth pointing out that the best thing fans can do to ensure a continued stream of content is to help evangelize the game and drive sales.

I also picked it up at B&N recently. I finally saw it in person and figured I'd pick it up and give it a try. Love what I've read and have a campaign starting on Monday.Rich H wrote:Can I ask why you've only just purchased it? Why now and not when it was initially released? ... I'm curious. Thanks!
My biggest issue is the Adventure's Guide is falling apart already.

Re: Where is TOR going?
Update: I haven't enjoyed reading game books this much since I first discovered D&D in the summer of '82 and stayed up night after night reading through the PHB and DMG.
What an elegant game TOR is. The rules & mechanics fit beautifully with the flavor of Tolkien's stories. And it is refreshing to see a game in which non-combat abilities have been given this much attention, and fighting itself is gritty/dangerous enough that avoiding combat is almost always a good option.
I've often described tabletop RPGs to the uninitiated as "communal storytelling" and TOR exemplifies this ideal.
I hope TOR thrives and continues to publish supplements and adventures for many years to come.

Hi Elfcrusher! Thanks for the kind words. I'm currently collecting quotes for the TOR pages on our website. Could I quote your post? If so, how would you like to be credited. Elfcrusher is fine, but if you'd like a real name next to it you can PM me or let me know here. And if you'd rather not be quoted that's cool too.Elfcrusher wrote:Update: I haven't enjoyed reading game books this much since I first discovered D&D in the summer of '82 and stayed up night after night reading through the PHB and DMG.

Re: Where is TOR going?
I figured I may as well answer this as I just ordered my copy yesterday. I just hadn't heard of the game until a couple of months ago. I'll admit that I don't tend to follow P&P game releases; I'm unemployed, have very little disposable income and more than enough games to play already, but after looking into the game and having the opportunity to give it a quick read, I was genuinely surprised that I hadn't heard of it from any of my friends. Neither had any of the friends I've mentioned it to heard of it themselves. I only found it because I came across some of Jon Hodgson's fantastic art (women warriors in sensible armour will always get my attention) and worked my way back to the source.Rich H wrote:I won't comment on where the game is heading because that has been discussed numerous times, and recently, but great to see people still picking up this game so long after its first release. That's lovely to read and welcome Shieldmaiden! Hope you stay here as the community is really friendly; sharing ideas and supporting each other regarding the game and source material.Shieldmaiden wrote:I figured I may as well answer this as I just ordered my copy yesterday. ... Also, I completely agree about women warriors in sensible armour. So much artwork doesn't do this and miniatures are even harder to come by - it's a regular bugbear of mine that I often rant about and its one of the reasons why I respect Jon and the guys who create the art for TOR as not only do they cloth and armour their females in a comparable way to males within their material but they also aren't always beautiful - ie, they don't look like Hollywood actresses or catwalk models. This is also an important element too; normal looking people!
