Ooh, nice find, Hermes.

It's fun to consider & debate this. I hope nobody thinks there is only one "correct" answer.

The only correct answer is...What fits your campaign? If you think it fits in then do it.

The thing about the topic of Morgul-knives is that it seems like such a small, harmless question, but it keeps gnawing at you, digging deeper and deeper into you, day by day, hour by hour, until it reaches your heart and you become nothing more than a wraith, lurking on internet message boards posting endlessly in thrall to your obsession...

I wonder if we're reading the same thread. There were several posts in which people offered their interpretation as irrefutable fact.

... And you keep labouring the point and reminding people. The horse is dead. Seriously. It's been stabbed by the Morgul Knife or, you know, just a Morgul Knife. I don't think it cares anymore. ;)

Hermes Serpent wrote:Perhaps that Boromir has become one of the Nine or a similar, but less powerful, wraith?

The ritual to create such a weapon may involve pouring some part of the wielder's soul into the sorcery to have the effect of controlling the Morgul-wraith.
That earlier Boromir would not have been one of the Nazgûl, who became Wraiths because of their possession of the Nine Rings. He very well may have become a lesser Gûl under the Witch-king's command.

Hermes Serpent wrote:Based on canon the weapon seems to be a sorcerous blade that disappears in smoke when taken from it's owner but the rune engraved hilt still has some unknown power.
I was rather under the impression that it disintegrated when the sunlight touched it, having nothing to do with being separated from its owner.
The power of the blade is to create some kind of debilitating wound that when it finally kills the victim causes his soul? to come under the control of the wielder of the morgul -knife.
I think the effect occurs as soon as the blade pierces the heart. The Witch-king missed.

You should read everything on the Internet with an unstated "in my opinion." Who here has claimed that what they said is established fact and cannot be disputed?
