I'm sooooo bad at riddles...

If I was a believer, I'd say "God".
Not being one, I'll say "Tomorrow".

If not, wrenched loose, they put me to rout

First I thought tide. But it didn't really make sense with the last line. So with some external help I am pretty sure it's an anchor.
