Miniatures for TOR

I have yet to find decent replacements for Elves, since danged near every miniature line nowadays simply apes Jackson's vision of Elves with sabres instead of regular swords....

I don't know if you've considered plastics, but Zvezda did a couple of box of 28mm elves that don't look bad. Paint them up with tunics and leather and they might do for wood elves. Sgt Major Miniatures do the old Vendel range (titled Bloody Day 28mm Fantasy), and they're more heavily armoured but the ones I've seen look very nice (I have the dwarves from the same range and they are certainly good).

Hmmm...the Darksword lines seem to actually fit for some items (especially the GRR Martin line of Direwolves and some of the various Night's Watch since they wear mail).

I really love looking through these posts. There are so many magnificent miniatures: my collection has been put together over 30 years: but the best of them would be hard put to get close to any of these figures.

Hi, I haven't seen it mentioned but does no one else use the Eaglemoss Lord of the Rings figures? Very large scale, ready painted, they came out years ago with magazines and you can often pick up them up on ebay in the UK for less than an unpainted 25mm figure, often sold in full or partial sets which is too many to use.

we pretty much stick to either GW, Mithril, or wargames factory models for our 1ring chars and villains, have made some interesting conversions. But are really looking forward to expansions for 1ring.

I have this dragon and I think is perfect for TOR, serpent-like, soft belly, low legs and stuning detail.

In an attempt to get some practise in before I start painting my Raenar the Dragon miniature, I've done a couple of figures that I'll probably be using as snow trolls, but they are really Yetis:





Quite like how these have turned out, lots of shade and dry brushing to build up the depth and the first time I've based snow. I think I'll use the same techniques for Raenar and some similar basing.

Been doing a loooooooooooooooooong house renovation and we're now gradually reclaiming it room-by-room. Obviously, being the geek I am, the games room was given top priority so this is now decorated and done; therefore allowing me to purchase some lovely shelves and show off my miniatures - and allow for easy access.

I have two shelves for TOR and similar fantasy games; a Good Shelf* and an Evil Shelf*:
