It helps one understand why the Tolkien Estate tries so hard to protect the IP.

I'm with Giblet. I'll admit the idea of the "half-wraith" is corney if you say it like that - but the true incorporation of it is rather clever. It's essentially the ranger entering the "world" that Frodo sees when he dons the one ring.

Here's the video footage of it, and it looks incredible, and the engine that progresses the story and 'learns' from your choices on what enemies to face, when, and what to do with them, is rather epic cool.

Is it the same Middle-earth of our grandparents? No. But it is awesome looking blend of video game modern era of assassins creed and fantasy roleplaying video game world which so happens to be in Middle-earth. No doubt mostly to ride the coattails of recent success with the brand.

I will definitely play the heck out of it - in fact it may be the game the prompts me to shell out the 300 dollars for a PS4 to upgrade my old 3.

farinal wrote:I wish they made this game set in Eriador. No wraith stuff. You are a ranger of the Dunedain, tasked with the protection of Shire. You get quests from Aragorn or even Gandalf occasionaly. Eriador is open world with places like Hobbiton, Bree, Barrow Downs, Old Forest etc all available. One can dream.

Usually it can roughly translated as "something between Diablo and Assassin's Creed".

This looks like the last three Batman games, with another setting. The combat system is identical, and the bat-radar has been replaced by this wraith-stuff.

OTOH, the Batman games were good, so it may end up being a fun game.

... Just base it in another world then or play Assassin's Creed or Batman. The game is going to change ME so much, by the looks of it, that there's really not much point playing it for that which to me is a big FAIL. If you're going to use particular IP in your games then play to its strengths. It seems like this game could be set in any kind of stock fantasy setting and not lose any of its positive elements. Which means basing it in ME is completely redundant to the game; with the exception that a certain set of people will blindly buy it because it has something to do with ME, however tenuous.

I'll pass, I have the Batman Arkham trilogy and the Assassin's Creed games.
