If a player chooses a cultural reward but then gets the same item of Magical Treasure (Rivendell), what happens? Do they return the cultural reward and get the XP they spent for it back? Something else?

If a player chooses a cultural reward but then gets the same item of Magical Treasure (Rivendell), what happens? Do they return the cultural reward and get the XP they spent for it back? Something else?

Cultural Rewards are not available as Magical Treasure so a player can never get one using the Rivendell rules.

The rules on page 98 describe returning a previously acquired Cultural Reward to his people and unlocking qualities associate with the newly acquired magical armour/weapon/etc.

Got it. Just read that - they exchange cultural rewards or qualities 1:1 for unlocking the properties of Famous items.
