Of course A Balrog has to be present in 3018... which doesn't stop a different balrog from being ..... available...... at an earlier date:
True, but placing more than one Balrog in Moria is a bit of a stretch to say the least.

Nevertheless, the balrog has a immunity: he must be killed by Gandalf in 3018.

Clever.
As bargaining-with-demons clever

So being fairly new to RPGs, I am wondering what a Deluxe Box Set in general includes. Is it just a different enclosure for some books? Or does it include extras and if so, what kind could we expect to be in there?

It depends upon the purpose of the set. A boxed set that serves as a basic introduction to an RPG often includes such extras as dice, some plastic miniatures, etc.

In this case, all the material that is interchangeable between TOR and AiMe (history, maps, etc.) seems to be collected in one or two books, with the remaining two being reserved for game-specific material.

Not sure being this explicit to the number of books and content of the boxed set is... entirely accurate, shall we say. Although you did state, "seems to be", so I may let you off. :)

Rich, I think anyone reading the post would realize that I am speculating based on what has been stated so far and not being as specific as you imply (as if I even could).

The best information we have so far is what Jon Hodgson posted on December 4. We don't know for sure that there will be four books or what extras might be included in the set. Here's the post:
Good morning!
To clear up some confusion:

We're taking a modular approach to the rules sections and soaking the accompanying cost ourselves. So you will get rules for both systems, and you'll be able to remove the rules section you don't require, and rest easy knowing you paid no more for it.

So let's say (for example) Moria is a box with 4 manuals in it. One will be the rules for TOR and one will be the rules for AME. You'll be able to throw one away/give it to a friend who has different tastes in rules. The price will be for a box with 3 manuals. Because as I said, we have your back. But we also want to make a Moria boxed set.

We have no plans to convert any other forthcoming title to "dual stat", and we've never used that term officially. I have personally made it clear I dislike "dual statted" products. AME and TOR remain seperate lines as we have always said.
